Pilot program 2023 Terms and Conditions

Long Term Rentals on Getaround - Pilot program 2023
Terms and Conditions

Getaround has decided to launch a pilot program enabling some of its Car Owners to offer their Vehicle(s) for long term rentals, and for Drivers to be able to rent these Vehicles.

What is a “Long Term Rental”: they are rentals lasting at least 30 days, with a maximum of 6 months. The rental will be booked through the Getaround website/app in 30 day periods, meaning Long Term Rentals will be made of successive unique bookings of up to 30 days each.

Which Car Owners can propose their Vehicles for a Long Term Rental?
This Pilot will take place in Norway.

How can Car Owners apply for the Pilot?
The Car Owner must apply to the Program by completing the form available here and accepting the present Terms at the bottom of that form. All sections in the form must be filled in to apply, all incomplete applications will be rejected.

Once all information is received, Getaround will contact the selected Car Owners by email to let them know if they will be part of the Pilot.

Where can these Vehicles be found by potential Renters?
The vehicles selected for the Pilot will be presented on a dedicated page of Getaround website at the following address: langtidsleie.getaround.com/

How long will the Pilot last?
These Long Term Rentals are put in place as a Pilot phase starting in September 2023. At its own discretion, Getaround might extend the possibility of Long Term Rentals on its platform.

What principles govern these Long Term Rentals?

Getaround’s Terms of Service (“ToS”) will apply with the following exceptions:

Payment of the Rental by the Renter
Renters will pay the Rental Price at the beginning of each rental period (which can last up to 30 days, i.e. the “Rental Period”) for the amount due for such rental period.
Adjustments for missing or extra fuel will be calculated only at the end of the Long Term Rental.
All other adjustments (e.g. for extra kilometers driven) or fees and compensations (e.g. driving tickets) will be charged to the Renter at the end of each Rental Period.

Getaround will pay the Car Owner Payout including any potential adjustment and compensation after deduction of any sums due by the Car Owner (e.g. Connect subscription, fuel adjustment or in the event of undue or excess charges to the Renter) within 6 business days following the debit on the Renter’s bank account, after the end of the Rental Period.

The first two paragraphs of Article 12.4 of the ToS are amended according to the principles indicated above.

Duration of the Rental

Long Term Rentals can last between 1 month and 6 months (i.e. 180 days) and will be insured (provided all conditions set forth in the ToS and the insurance policy are respected). If the Renter and the Car Owner both wish to extend a Long Term Rental that is already underway to last a total exceeding 180 days, they must contact Getaround who will be entitled to refuse it, at Getaround’s discretion, in the Pilot phase.

The first paragraph of Article 9.3 of the ToS is amended according to the principles indicated above.

Cancellation of a Booking or an ongoing Rental by the Renter

The Renter may cancel their Rental free of charge up to 1 hour after payment of the Rental on the Website.
After this period of 1 hour, the cancellation conditions if canceled by the Renter are as follows:
More than 5 days before the start of the Rental: the Renter may cancel at any time and the Rental Price will be refunded to them. The Renter will be reimbursed within 3 working days. The Car Owner does not receive any of the expected earnings.
Less than 5 days before the start of the Rental, and up to the start of the Rental: 50% of the Rental Price for the upcoming 30 days of Rental will be refunded to the Renter. The Car Owner is compensated for 50% of the upcoming 30 days of the Car Owner Payout defined in Article 12 below (excluding the insurance premium paid by the Renter given that the Rental is covered by the Car Owner’s own external insurance).
After the start of the Rental, the Renter won’t be refunded for the Rental Price for the remainder of the current Rental Period. The Car Owner will receive 100% of the current Rental Period of the Car Owner Payout defined in Article 12 below (excluding the insurance premium paid by the Renter when the Rental is covered by the Getaround Entrepreneur insurance or by own Car Owner insurance) and won’t receive any compensation for the days of Rental exceeding the current Rental Period.

The three bullet points of Article 8.1 of the ToS are amended according to the principles indicated above.

Cancellation of a Booking by the Car Owner

When the cancellation is due to the Car Owner, the compensation indicated in Article 8.3 applies but Getaround does not guarantee it will provide a replacement vehicle, even when the cancellation is less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time of the Rental.

Mileage allowance
As indicated in Article 12.2 of the ToS, the Standard Mileage Allowance included in the Rental Price is 2000 kilometers for 30 days of Rental.
However, the Mileage Package option mentioned in that same Article will not apply to Long Term Rentals. The Renter will be charged for driven kilometers exceeding the Standard Mileage Allowance as indicated in Article 12.5 a) of the ToS.

General Conditions
Participation in this Pilot implies knowledge and full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, as they are completed by Getaround Terms of Service available here.
The Car Owner can not bring out any claims about the content thereof. The Car Owner participates on his own initiative and Getaround can in no way be responsible for a possible decision to list a car on the platform in order to participate, or any other decision taken by the Car Owner for the purposes of his participation.

Termination and modifications

Getaround reserves the right to:
suspend or terminate the Pilot or the ability of a Car Owner to take part therein at any time and for any reason whatsoever;
modify at any time and without notice, if necessary, the conditions of this Pilot,
without any compensation being due to the Car Owner for such suspension, modification or termination.
The decision to modify, suspend or cancel the Pilot shall be published by Getaround on its platform at langtidsleie.getaround.com. These revised terms will come into force as from the moment of their publication. By continuing to take part in the Program following these changes, the car owner consents to such modifications.
